Chef de partie

A star is born at James Martin Manchester as our talented young chef de partie Exose is selected to compete in MasterChef: The Professionals, TV's most prestigious cooking competition.

Chorlton-born Exose showcases his talent in the new BBC Two series, hosted and judged by Gregg Wallace, Monica Galetti and Michelin star holder Marcus Wareing.

It's a dream come true for Exose, who joined our team straight from college four years ago.

"I've always had my heart set on MasterChef: The Professionals," says Exose, who is our Chef of the Year 2019, having won the title at the Caesars Entertainment Chef and Bartender Awards.

"When I saw the advert for this series, I decided it was time to apply, and I was thrilled to be picked. It's an incredible experience and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

Exose's interest in cooking was sparked at a young age by the alluring dishes his mum conjured up at their home in Chorlton. He went on to study food technology, hospitality and catering at Manchester Academy High School, and honed his talents at South Trafford College.

"I've always felt most at home in the kitchen," he says. "It's where I come alive. It's no surprise to my family that I ended up becoming a chef. Though they've been quite taken aback to see me appearing on the telly!"

James Martin says it comes as no surprise to him that the young chef de partie and head of pastry is making a name for himself. "Exose is an extremely talented and creative chef who is hard working and always ready to learn. We're all very proud of him here at James Martin Manchester."
